Job Description

Primary Responsibility / Summary

Provides supervision and hands-on training to deaf and hard-of-hearing janitorial trainees, in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility, plant, grounds, bathrooms, meeting rooms, furniture and equipment.     

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supervises deaf and hard-of-hearing janitorial trainees; performs quality control checks on work performed by trainees.
2. Provides guidance and supervision to keep trainees focused on appropriate work behaviors and job duties.
3. Carries out general cleaning projects including but not limited to assignments such as floor stripping and waxing, window washing, table and chair cleaning, moving furniture, meeting and banquet room set up, arranging trash pickup 
4. Assumes responsibility for the sanitation of furniture, equipment, facilities and bathrooms.
5. Communicates with Company’s Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to prepare monthly reports regarding trainees’ progress, needs and behaviors.
6. Ensures compliance with work rules and safety requirements. Reports compliance concerns and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
7. Oversees the safety and welfare of trainees; provides documented hazardous substance communications and safety training; reports unsafe or hazardous conditions.

Education & Experience

• One year of janitorial/custodial experience with broad knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, industry standards and procedures.  Some supervisory experience helpful.
 Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 
• Good written skills with ability to prepare progress report on trainees and participants.
• Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred. ADA Knowledge desirable.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision.
• Non-profit experience preferred.

• Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
