Job Description

Primary Responsibility / Summary

Responsible for building and promoting participant retention services including surveying, analyzing
and reviewing participants to find areas for improvement and implementing strategies to facilitate retention.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Builds trusting relationships with participants in intensive services in order to assist with employment retention.
2. Participates in development of individual employment plan (IEP), setting goals for job retention and career advancement with the participant.  Documenting progress on IEP and in case notes.
3. Assesses participant's potential retention issues and develops preventative strategies.
4. Delivers pre-employment workshops to participants on job retention strategies.
5. Provides one-to-one coaching with job-ready participants on topics related to job retention, such as professional communications, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and so on.
6. Helps participant understand and navigate employer policies and procedures, code of conduct and other new hire documentation.
7. Provides post-employment support to assist with long-term retention and career advancement, including linkages to partnering agencies for wrap around supports.
8. Coaches participants on self-advocacy for requesting reasonable accommodation.
9. Monitors retention outcomes for assigned participants, provides intervention to mitigate barriers to retention.
10. Conducts tracking of employed participants in assigned program to ensure that retention and career advancement results are captured.
11.  This job requires travelling within So. Calif.  extensively (> 50% of the time), a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance are required.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, human resources or related
• 2 years’ experience in workforce development
• Must know key drivers and long term success factors for employee retention
• Must understand retention barriers experienced by target populations, including people with disabilities, low income individuals, veterans, ex-offenders and at-risk youth
• Knowledge of ADA and providing reasonable accommodation
• Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
• Spanish / English bilingual preferred
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
